08-15-18 Building Fire: ManorCare, Huntingdon Pike

At approximately 9:15pm, HVFC was dispatched for a fire alarm at Manor Care Health Services. The call was upgraded to a building fire by Chief 8 upon additional information. A fire in a malfunctioning AC unit was quickly extinguished but created a smoke condition in the building. No residents were injured and all residents were evacuated with some residents being transported to other ManorCare facilities. Units responding to this call included Engine, Tower, and Squad 8, Engine and Squad 11, Ladder 10, Bucks Rescue 2, Engine 9 and Ladder 100 for station cover and manpower, Station 95 and Bucks Station 1 for additional station cover, 8, 10, 15 and 95 Fire Police, Montco Emergency Management, EMS from Bryn Athyn, Second Alarmers, Tri-Hampton, Horsham, Narberth, Lansdale, Lafayette, Cheltenham, Whitemarsh and Harleysville. We are grateful for all mutual companies who assisted on this incident. Various media outlets have reported on the event.
